This exhibit is entitled: Now you Know the Cruelty of Flowers
Katherine Helmer‘s artwork, which spans several decades has been featured in collections across Canada, the United States and Great Britain. Her landscape pieces are known for their sensitive observations of nature, while her finely crafted still lifes, portraits and paintings reflect a deeply personal expression of her life as a mother, wife and artist.
While Terence Helmer is best known as an accomplished violinist & educator, and founding member of the Orford String Quartet, one of Canada’s leading chamber music ensembles, his paintings are lyrical abstractions inspired by the natural world, combining rich textures, subtle colour harmonies, and gestural mark-making to create evocative, landscape-like compositions.
