Angelica Ottewill, Betty Bennett and Hermione Rivison are coming to Warkworth for an evening of storytelling on Friday, November 8th, at 7 pm. Colours of the Wind will showcase each of these professional tellers, members of the Peterborough Storytellers Collective, in a programme that includes myths, folk and fairy tales, historical stories, music, poetry and more. The evening celebrates Canadian Storytelling Night, an initiative of the Storytellers of Canada (SC-CC) which annually sets aside a day or evening in November to promote Canadian storytellers telling stories on a specific theme. This year’s theme is “Air” and each of the three tellers will bring her own approach to the theme.

Betty Bennett will tell stories about humanity’s urge to “slip the surly bonds of earth” and take to the air in imitation of the birds. Learn something of the intrepid women who ferried aircraft across the Atlantic in support of the Allies in World War II. Angelica Ottewill will weave legends of birds together with the melodic strains of her enchanting Celtic harp. Hermione Rivison will share a dramatic telling of a Maori legend, and much more.

The Hastings Ukelele Band will also perform.

The evening’s programme is appropriate for all ages and will include an intermission for conversation and light refreshments. Tickets are $15.00 per adult.  Children under 12 are free.
